In Those Days

In Those Days

One night after flying to Los Angeles from my homeland England, I met a girl at a party.

In those days girls used to go to parties.

This one was at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles, and there, right before my veries, was the girl I had grown up loving from afar. (Well, from the 15th row of the cinema, which is far enough).

After chatting her up for a few moments with the usual incredible charm and wit learned from Cary Grant, I was able to ask her where her twin sister was, and ask if she still had the great treehouse, and the most troubling for me of course, what had happened to the bloke in Whistle Down the Wind.

I was happy to find that Pollyanna, oops... Hayley, had heard of me, and we became good friends.

What a lovely person. She would come over to our house on Benedict Canyon and let herself be thrown into the swimming pool.

I was sad when she ran off with Cary Grant's son, and blew up her car.

Her Dad was a bit upset. “I don't think so, Herman”.

Hello Peter, I’m Harold Dieckman from Southern California. In the summer of 1965, I was lucky enough to attend the Hermans Hermits concert at the Rose Bowl. I’ve always said it was the best concert I ever went to! All seats were $1.00. Can you imagine that today? I just wanted to say hello and I wish you would come somewhere near Cypress Calif. on one of your American tours. Keep on singin!

I Saw Herman’s Hermits At Bluffs Run Casino In Council Bluffs , Iowa Years Ago & Really Enjoyed The Show ! But , I Didn’t Have Time To Go Eat Before Going & I Get Headaches When I Don’t Eat ! One Of The Band Members Overheard Me Telling That I Had A Headache & I’m Sure He Mis-Understood ! I’m So Sorry About That … It Was From NOT From The Music ! I Had Listened To The Songs For Many Years (Since The 60’s & I’m Now 70 !) ! I Loved The Music !

What a lovely picture and story! The Parent Trap is my all time favorite movie. Hayley and her sister Juliet were supposed to be at the Nostalgia Conference in Baltimore in August, but alas, Hayley canceled because she will be doing her book tour instead.

I loved all of Hayley Mill’s movies. The Parent Trap and Pollyanna were my favorites. Love the photo of you and her, she was and still is beautiful. Love the photo and the cute story. I love your story telling.

Pollyanna was one of my childhood favorite movies! Thanks for that charming story! I just saw a re-run of “Midsomer Murders”, that Hayley was in. She’s still lovely!
