Here's the inside info on what's doing - behind closed doors!

THE LIGHTS are dim, the shades are drawn. It's not the beginning of a quiet party or a romantic dinner for two. It's Herman - alone - with not another soul around.
But don't think he's lonely or depressed - not for a minute! This is just one of those evenings when Herm feels like being alone! Don't think that he's being strangely mysterious - it's just that there are certain things he'd rather do in private - without a thousand eyes watching.
When Herm's alone, he likes to ... sing to himself ... walk around his apartment in a shirt that's three sizes too big and a pair of argyle socks ... think about girls and wonder what type of "bird" he'll eventually marry ... watch a good comedy program on TV ... write letters ... look through his old scrapbooks ... check the financial pages of the newspapers ... play solitaire.
If he feels ambitious, he may ... think about his plans for the following day ... maybe give himself a haircut ... cook himself a steak - although he admits he's not the greatest chef in the world ... write a new song or try his hand at a new arrangement of an old standard ... practice some of the current dances ... he may decide to rearrange the furniture ... try some of his impersonations ... sketch the view from his window.

He gets a kick out of ... trying to wear his necktie all different ways - like backwards, maybe ... imagining the way he would propose to a girl ... thinking about what it would be like if he left the Hermits and went out on his own ... watching people pass by from his window ... wondering what everybody else is doing while he's alone in the dark ... chewing bubble gum to see how big a bubble he can blow ... catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror when he's wearing his too-big shirt and crazy socks.
If Herm's in the mood to relax, he may ... listen to some soft, romantic music ... go to sleep for two hours ... make himself a mug of hot chocolate with a marshmallow floating on top ... read what the teen magazines are saying about The Hermits ... think happy thoughts ... read some of his fan mail ... think about the girls he's dated and the ones who have been special to him ... take a hot bath ... sit on his fav chair and read a book on science fiction ... do some breathing excercises.
If Herman just feels like being himself, he'll ... read some letters from his friends back home ... look through his wardrobe and see if he needs to buy anything new ... think about his future and what he'll do if the Hermits aren't always as popular as they are now ... write his real name, Peter Noone, on a piece of paper - just to see how it looks ... make a phone call to see how his family is doing ...
And then if Herm's feeling like his "other" self, he'll probably invite a few of his friends for a really "smashing time" and have a party!
