Herman lets loose with a real loud Manchester "rebel yell!" before letting The Beatles "have it!" Some fight this is gonna be!

YOU, the reader, probably think you know an awful lot about a big star like Herman. And you do! (After all, you're a steady reader of TW, aren't you?)
But just think of how much more the "in people" know about him . . . the people who are in show business, too, who travel with him or who have had the same kinds of experiences he has. We're talking about people like Ringo and Paul, who definitely are among the "innest people" in the whole world - teen or otherwise!
Paul smiled as he said, "We do know a couple of hot Herman secrets, that's for sure."
Ringo added, "And we just might spill 'em to all of you!"
Never let it be said that a Beatle goes back on his word. If you're ready, Paul and Ringo are ready to "let the cat out of the bag." Here goes . . .
Paul began, "People say The Beatles have rather strange ways of escaping from the fans. But we've never done anything as weird as Herman has. After all, we never slid down a laundry chute!"
Herman did, though. And he did it right here in the U.S. Seems he couldn't leave his hotel room without being mobbed. But he wanted very much to do some sight-seeing. What to do?
Paul continued, "He slid down the laundry chute from his room into the kitchen! From there it was fairly easy to give the fans the slip. Now, I ask you, why didn't we ever think of that?!"
"There's another thing about Herman," Ringo told us. "We're supposed to be the ones who are "bugged" on cars. But he's worse! 'Cause who ever heard of driving a car into the ocean?"
Herman did. In fact, not only has he heard of it, but he did it, too! Once, he and some friends drove a small van around the beach, in and out of the water. When he finally took it back to the road, it was completely covered in seaweed!
Ringo said, "That sight was almost as funny as the time the car Herman was in turned over. And a whole group of guys had to climb out through the windows. They were laughing up a fit, but the people watching weren't, I'll bet!"
Luckily, nobody was hurt. It was just another "wacky" experience for Herman and all his fun-loving friends.
"Speaking of 'wacky', Paul said, "did you ever listen to him talk? He once bent my ear for ages just talking about eating spaghetti! It's really true!"
"Another thing that's true about Herman," Ringo interrupted, "is that he can't bear to be alone. It's a fact that at least one member of his group always sleeps in the same room with him! Herman likes to talk a lot, you see. But I guess he draws the line when it comes to talking to himself in the middle of the night!"
Like The Beatles, Herman's made some long-range plans, too.
"He wants to own and operate his own club," Paul told us. "Something like your American night clubs."
"And to own a hotel," Ringo put in. "Don't forget that."
We'd never forget that. In fact, we probably won't forget anything Paul and Ringo had to say! Will you?

"Now that Paul and Ringo have told you some 'hot' secrets," grinned George, "we have a few juicy details to add!"
"We sure do," John broke in. "Ol' Herm just can't hide anything from us!"
"He certainly can't," George continued. "You see, even though we and Herm aren't that close in age, we still have mutual friends - mainly 'cause we're all pop singers!"
"That's right," said John, with a devlish grin. "Which means we know plenty about Herm that only some of his closest friends know!"
One of the things George and John were most anxious to tell us is that no matter how silly and prankish Herm likes to act at times, he's just a sentamentalist at heart!
"As much as we like to tease Herm," said George, "we can't help admiring the feeling he has for the people who've seen him through thick and thin."
Herm has more than just a feeling for them, though. He knows that it's the old fans - the ones who backed him before he became famous - who should never be forgotten. And he doesn't forget them!
"Did you know," asked George, "that Herman plays regularly in clubs for his old fans at a special low rate?" That's pretty sentimental, but pretty nice, too!"
George and John were quiet for a second - and then they were all smiles again.
"Now we don't want Herm to get too big-headed!" John said with an impish twinkle in his eye. "We thought we were the laziest guys around. But it looks like Herm wins by a mile!
"You see, Herm's so lazy, he'll do almost anything just not to have to get up in the morning!
"That guy stays up so late at night, just talking," teased John, "he's always missing busses and trains and even planes. It's a wonder he gets where he's going at all, I suspect!"
      John thought for a minute.
Then he added, "No! Let me take that last statement back. I mustn't forget to mention that new chauffeur-driven Jaguar Herm just bought! A pretty comfortable way to work out his lateness problem, eh?!"
The boys decided they'd spilled enough gossip - about Herm. But they just couldn't end the conversation without adding just one more thing about Herm.
"We want you to know," confided George, "that Herm kind-of looked up to us! When he was in America, he rented the same Hollywood mansion for The Hermits that we'd rented when we were living there! We hope he had as much fun living in it as we did!"
If that's possible - and if we know Herm - he sure did!
