      As you know, when the Hermits are in our town (which they happen to dig), catching up with them is like getting a firm grip on the proverbial greased lightning. Especially when they have a lot of work to do and have to find some spare time for having a bit of fun. They'd already promised to all be there the night of the Awards, but it began to look as though no one would be able to get them together long enough.
      I think this is the way it went from that Friday on. First the Hermits would all be there (hopefully) but Herman might have to stay at the "Dean Martin Show" rehearsal. Then Herman could make it but the Hermits might not be able to. Then the Hermits could make it to the dinner only and Herman to the Awards only. As of four o'clock on Sunday afternoon (that's when I received my final Hermit telephone call) I wasn't sure I knew who was going where, myself included, but it all worked out beautifully. Hermits weren't able to attend as it turned out, but who could complain when Peter Noone walked through the door and smiled that smile.
