Herman's Goodbye Cry!

At no time before had Herman felt such sorrow, such pain. You can share this terrible moment with him - as he tells it himself!

Usually, whenever you hear about Herman, you hear that he's happy-go-lucky, bursting with joy and love of life. No so, though. At least, it's not true one-hundred per cent of the time.
We're going to tell you about one particular time Herman felt very sad. In fact, he felt as if his heart would just break! Although this happened quite a few years ago, Herm won't ever forget it. Maybe you won't, either.
Herman told us, "This whole thing happened because my family was going on vacation. People are generally excited about going away. But I wasn't - not this time!"
You see, Herm had to leave his little dog behind. The resort his family was staying at didn't allow dogs. So Herm's family was "boarding" the pup with a neighbor for the two weeks they'd be gone.
Herm confided, "I remember driving away in our car and seeing my dog trying to follow us. He looked so sad and his little tail was hanging down between his legs. I really wanted to cry!"
But Herman couldn't do anything about it. He just counted the days until he'd be back home and able to romp and play with his pet again. It wasn't a very happy vacation for him at all.
Then, when he arrived home again, things became even worse!
Herm told us, "The minute I got back home, I ran over to my neighbor's to get my pup. But I couldn't find him! I called his name and looked all over, but he wasn't around - anywhere!
"I just cried and cried," Herm admitted. "If any of you have ever lost a pet, you know what it feels like. If you've never had such an experience, I hope you never do. It's like losing a member of the family - and it's heartbreaking!"
Herm never saw that little dog again. And even though he's had other dogs since (including Androcles, the one he has now), he still remembers the sad little pup watching him ride away.
"I like to think," Herm added, "that some nice people found the dog and took good care of him. And that they grew to love him as much as I did."
We like to think so, too.
