Peter Noone, Herman of Herman's Hermits, is scheduled to spend the entire month of February in New York City playing the part of Pinocchio in a television special.
The 90 minute TV show, which will also be called "Pinocchio", will be a completely new production of the old classic. It will include seven new songs and Peter is expected to be singing some of them.
NBC will be airing the special in the U.S. The show will also be shown in Britain but not until next Christmas.
Just before his departure for New York, Herman's Hermits recorded their new English single, "I Can Take Or Leave Your Loving" and Peter along with his producer Mickie Most, who also produces the Yardbirds, Donovan, and Jeff Beck, decided that all royalties from the single will be earmarked for the "I'm Backing Britain" campaign which is presently going on in London. It is expected that Peter, the group, and Most will contribute at least $35,000 to the campaign.
