Herman's Hermits
"There's A Kind of Hush"/"Gaslite Street" (Columbia)

HERMAN has a remarkable flair for picking happy little ditties which are compulsive whistlers and irresistible toe-tappers - or perhaps I should say Mickie Most has the flair!
Anyway, this Geoff Stephens, Les Reed number falls into the typical Herman category, though melodically it's much stronger than many of his numbers. I found myself singing along during the very first play, and my secretary got up and skipped around the office. Sure signs of a hit!
FLIP: The Hermits are featured with more prominence on this side. They answer Herman back at the end of each line, as he jog-trots through this "Dead End Street" type of number.
