Win a Call From Herman's Hermits

What do you say to your singing idols? Well start thinking about it ... because you might very well be the lucky winner of a personal phone call from one of Britain's top young singing groups, Herman's Hermits!
Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone, or simply Herman, as his friends know him, is a Manchester lad, as are the other members of his tribe. He was born November 5th, 1947. Herman began acting and singing lessons at the age of 14 at the Manchester School of Music. He played a few parts and appeared on several television broadcasts in dramatic roles.
One evening at a local youth club, Peter (or Herman) filled in for a missing member of a group known as the Heartbeats . - - he stayed with the group from then on.
Karl Green taught himself to play the guitar, and received his first instrument at the age of ten. After school he apprenticed as an engraver for a year before joining a group his brother managed called the Balmains. Later he became a member of the original Heartbeats.
Derek Leckenby, or "Lek," as the boys call him, is the oldest of the group. He's 23! Lek was studying Civil Engineering at Manchester University when he was first asked by Barry to sit in with the group for an evening. When, at the end of the semester, Lek had done badly on his school finals, he joined the group permanently. As soon as possible, Lek would like to pick up his studies and get a degree.
Barry Whitwam, the group's drummer started playing when he was 13. He's a real car fiend, and loves racing. Before joining the group, Barry was a hairdresser.
Keith Hopwood is the harmonizer in the group - . - but he almost didn't get to join them. His father absolutely forbade him to join any of the "beat" combos around but, as fathers do, Mr. Hopwood relented. Before becoming a Hermit, Barry worked for the local telephone company.
In April of 1964 the group was all together, and they officially became Herman's Hermits. They've had phenomenal luck with their records . - - and their new song "Just A Little Bit Better" promises to be the best of the lot. Around Christmas time, look for MGM's When The Boys Meet The Girls . . -the Hermits will be making their first film appearance in it.
Definitely the most personable group among the English-combo-set. Herman and his Hermits look forward to talking with the winner of MOVIE STARS' contest. Will it be you? Have you entered yet? See the official rules below, and good luck!
