Herman and the Hermits look well groomed on stage, go casual off.

The big news this month was the arrival of top stars such as Herman's Hermits, the Animals, the Dave Clark Five, and James Brown. These great guys all came to Hollywood within days of each other. Herman's Hermits missed the Dave Clark Five by one day! They first made a one-hour stop-over at the airport to hold a press conference. As usual, girls were lines up outside and once more they broke through the rope and nearly strangled poor "Peter." Pete went running down the corridor of the airport yelling for help. The guys made it to their plane somehow, and lo and behold, The Animals were waiting for them on the plane! The Animals and the Hermits were touring together and were on their way to Hawaii. The visit to Hawaii was a short one, and the Hermits and Animals came back to Hollywood and stayed at The Beverly Rodeo Hotel, the same place Dave Clark stayed. Crowds formed in the parking lot behind the hotel after it was found out that Herman's room was on the second floor right over the lot. Two girls slipped past the guards into Herman's room, and when the guards wanted to throw them out Herman said no. He feels responsible for his fans, and he ordered Cokes for everyone and invited them to stay .... |
