Herman's Hermits have recentlycompleted one of the most financially successful tours
in the States, a tour that included additional personal appearances and guest shots on
the "Al Hirt Show" and "Danny Kaye Show." Their schedule was literally one riot after another, and the following are two incidents which took place during their cross country venture: In Louisville, Kentucky they played to a crowd of 5,500 and after the show, HERMAN saw a short cut to his limousine (so he thought). HERMAN made a dash for the car, and landed in the middle of 500 girls. Meanwhile, back in the Cadillac, Ron Sunshine, the boys' agent, and the other four Hermits were getting ready to drive away. Suddenly Ron realized someone was missing. He took a quick count. 1, 2, 3, 4, aud looking up and out of the front window he saw HERMAN being carried off. He jumped into action, got hold of HERMAN and literally threw him into the policemen's arms. At this point HERMAN had only the collar of his shirt, his tie and half of his trousers left on him. The rest were taken by the fans for souvenirs. Needless to say, after that day in Louisville HERMAN never again took a short cut. aud he stuck very close to the guards. A recording star can lose many things in a crowd, but only HERMAN could lose a tooth; not just any tooth, but his famous one, you know, his baby tooth, the onehe has received offers of money for. While in Dallas, a fan accidently hit HERMAN in the face and loosened the "tooth." Three days later it fell out. His fans immediatly noticed it was missing. and he's received quite a bit of fan mail and requests for it. HERMAN doesn't know why the girls want it, and claims, "actually it was quite an ugly tooth and had to come out sooner or later." |
