Herman is another star who's keen on popping over to the Continent whenever he's got a few days to spare. He told me about his week in Paris with his manager Harvey Lisberg a few weeks back.
"We had a fantastic time," he said, "and it made a nice change because we've never had a hit record in France so nobody recognised me. Mind you - I began to miss being asked for my autograph after a bit!"
In fact, Herman knows Paris pretty well as he's been there about twenty times since he was thirteen. But, would you believe it - he'd never been up the Eiffel Tower.
This time he was determined to scale its heights, and dragged Harvey along with him. What he didn't realise was that in winter you're only allowed to go up to the second platform as the tower tends to sway in the breeze.
"Still, the view was marvellous even from there," Herman told me, "but I don't own a camera, so I had to pay some geezer about fifteen francs (£1 that is) to take a picture of me leaning over the side."
Even on holiday Herman can't get away from being photographed!
