-But they've got nothing to hide from!

DO you watch Coronation Street on TV? Remember Len Fairclough's son? If you do, you've seen the bright, breezy youngster who is fast piling up fan letters.
He's known to the casters of northern television as Peter Noone. But to his followers in clubs from Manchester to Merseyside, he's simply known as Herman. He's the two-headed vocalist who puts the zing into numbers by Herman's Hermits.
Despite their name, these boys don't hide away. They're as active as they come" radio, TV, records - they've done it all.
Much of it was new at first to rhythm guitarist Keith (Hoppy) Hopwood (18), bass guitarist Karl Green (16), drummer Barry (The Bean) Whitwam (18), and lead guitarist Lek Leckenby (19). But the boy behind the mike, sixteen-ager Herman has enough background and training to tackle half a dozen jobs. He was trained in drama, voice, guitar, piano "and all
that jazz." But, oddly enough, he does "just vocals" nowadays.
The Hermits, who can fill out a cabaret bill as well as bounce north-western beat fans off their feet, are poised to piece together two L.P.'s.
But it won't be the first time on record for these young Manchester boys, whose ages are a story in themselves. They have already cut parts of Oriole's "Cavern" L.P.'s from Liverpool, where, incidentally, they have a big rating.
When I looked them up they were working through a daily rehearsal - "We can't find enough time to try things out," they told me.
And there could be an autumn breakthrough for Herman and the boys. Their first release called "I'm Into Something Good," could really see them going places!
It seems their tie-up with Mickie Most, the man who produces discs by The Animals and The Nashville Teens, promises a big lift for this Manchester team going places.
